Customs & Import Note: Your only job is to check with your local authorities and Customs regarding any rules, regulations and import taxes specific to your home country. Capital Exports handles all US Title validation, Dock Receipts, and Shipper’s Export Declarations (SED).
Legal Compliance & Carriage Governance

Shipment Conditions of Contract

Transparent, standardized carriage terms governed by Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) and International Air Transport regulations.

All shipments are accepted subject to the carrier’s published tariff and Bill of Lading terms filed with the Federal Maritime Commission. Booking confirmations, rates and sailing dates are subject to space availability, and the shipper agrees to these standard carriage terms upon tendering cargo to Capital Exports Inc.
Under the U.S. Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA), carrier statutory liability is strictly limited to $100.00 per package or customary freight unit unless a higher value is declared and additional charges are paid. Shippers are strongly advised to purchase All-Risk Marine Cargo Insurance before departure.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) may select any export shipment for inspection, X-ray or physical examination. All resulting exam fees, terminal storage, drayage and demurrage charges are the responsibility of the shipper and are billed at cost.
Origin and destination Terminal Handling Charges (THC), port security fees and documentation fees are quoted separately unless stated otherwise. Cargo that is abandoned or uncollected at destination may incur disposition, storage and return-freight costs payable by the shipper or consignee.
The shipper and consignee are responsible for complying with destination-country import rules, duties, taxes and vehicle-age restrictions. Capital Exports files the Electronic Export Information (EEI) through AES and validates U.S. titles, but cannot be held liable for foreign customs decisions.
